Nutria 11
Nutria 11
Nutria 11 is one of my favorites from Nutria Collection #01. When I was photographing this little juvenile Nutria I was in disbelief of what I was watching. At the time I took this photo I had already been with the Nutria family for quite a while. So long that by this time the Sun had made its way too low to light up the water with the golden color that is seen in some of the other photos. And this was the very first time that I saw a Nutria stand on its hind legs. It stood up and started picking the plant material. Look at the tiny little flower in its hand. I still can’t believe I captured this. It looks like the Nutria is just walking along and picking flowers for its bouquet back home. I love it.

I think this photograph captures a lot, and I don’t just mean visually. These two juvenile Nutria siblings obviously care about one another. Many people are disgusted by Rodents and for the life of me I can’t figure out why. Maybe because they just get a bad rap in movies and television which perpetuates negative stereotypes. Look at these little creatures and tell me what is so scary. They seem pretty cute and harmless to me. And I can confirm that they were harmless after spending a couple of hours with them.
