A while ago I posted another photograph of this same Blue Heron where it was flying right in front of me. It was standing on this rock preening itself for a little while prior to that. Its thin feathers became sprawled out as it combed them with its beak.

Watching wildlife scavenge for food and eat is one of my favorite pastimes. Capturing a pleasing photograph of an animal eating is a nice bonus. I particularly think this Gray Squirrel eating a nut it found is a great shot.
