Collared Inca 01
Collared Inca 01
In case you were wondering what a Collared Inca would look like in this specific pose, wonder no more. Kind of bug-eyed it turns out.

A pretty good portrait of a Red Tailed Squirrel in Ecuador but my favorite feature is the little blue beetle. Do you see it?

Carunculated Caracara 01
These Carunculated Caracara were all over the Páramo region of Ecuador just running around while presumably looking for stuff to eat. This photograph is a good representation of that.

Torrent Duck 01
Way in the distance you can see a Torrent Duck. This is a male. They are very elusive. Their specialty is diving down into rapids and collecting small insects to eat. But if they see you, they might dive down and swim away.

The bird photography group I was with during my trip to Ecuador got a lot of looks at a family or two of Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan so I think we all felt a grateful for that.

Scaly Throated Foliage Gleaner 01
My wife will enjoy this photograph because it includes Mushrooms. But I happen to think the Scaly Throated Foliage Gleaner is special as well. It certainly has one of the craziest names of any bird I’ve discovered.

Green Fronted Lancebill 01
Green Fronted Lancebill 01
I’ve seen a Green Fronted Lancebill twice in my life. The first time was in Costa Rica about a year ago and a half ago and the second time was during my recent Ecuador trip. Both of those were at locations featuring water. The Lancebill in Costa Rica was always perched on a rock in the middle of a large stream. And the Lancebill in Ecuador that is featured in my photograph is in front of a small waterfall. If the waterfall was in focus then this would not be an impressive looking photo. The Lancebill would be just as sharp as the waterfall and there wouldn’t be a good separation. But, it’s a little harder to tell that there is a waterfall behind it.
